The federal government ran a $119.1 billion surplus in September, the Treasury Department reported Thursday.

Outlays in September totaled $224.443 billion. Receipts totaled $343.559 billion.
In September 2017, the government ran a $788.5 million surplus.
In August, the government ran a $214.1 billion deficit.
For the fiscal year, the government had a $778.996 billion deficit, compared to a $665.828 billion deficit for fiscal 2017.
