Mozelle W. Thompson, the Treasury's deputy assistant secretary for government financial policy, has been promoted to principal deputy assistant secretary, Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin announced yesterday.
Thompson will be responsible for oversight of federal credit and finance policies for domestic agencies and corporations, including the operations of the Federal Financing Bank and the Office of Corporate Finance.
He will continue to oversee the Treasury's privatization activities regarding the United States Uranium Enrichment Corp., the College Construction Loan Administration, and the Naval Petroleum Reserves at Elk Hills, Calif. He will also continue to lead the Treasury's initiatives on the financing of the District of Columbia.
Before joining the Treasury in August 1993, Thompson held a number of positions with the New York State, including senior vice president, counsel, and secretary to the boards of the New York State Housing Finance Agency, the State of New York Mortgage Agency and the New York State Medical Care Facilities Finance Agency. Before that, he was an attorney with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom in New York City.
