The board of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo approved a request to issue up to $70 million of revenue bonds to finance capital projects.
Proceeds will be used to finance three capital projects. The college will also consider refunding $15.6 million of bonds issued in 2001 to achieve an estimated $1.1 million of savings, the school said.
The university originally planned to issue $88 million, but trimmed the size after the Michigan Legislature authorized $18 million on behalf of the school, the university said.
