Armonk, N.Y.-based MBIA Insurance Corp., one of the top insurers in the municipal bondmarket, has selected managing director Andrea Randolph to head its informationtechnology division, beginning in January.
Randolph will replace Robert T. Wheeler, who is set to retire at that time.
MBIA chairman Jay Brown said in a prepared statement that Randolph has demonstratedstrong leadership in the department. She has "spearheaded the delivery of several majorIT projects and systems," he said. She has also played an important role in selecting,managing, and training staff.
As part of her new role, Randolph will become a member of MBIA's executive policycommittee, which is responsible for directing and implementing the company's globaltechnology strategy.
Brown noted that during his tenure, Wheeler significantly reduced the firm's overallinformation technology expenses, built a strong information technology team, andupgraded MBIA's systems on a global scale.
Randolph will report to vice chairman and chief financial officer Neil G. Budnick.
Before working at MBIA, Randolph served in various management positions at AetnaInsurance Co., where she started her career. She also worked at MetLife over a 20-yearperiod.
Randolph obtained a bachelor of science degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pa.
