Raimondo Launches Web-Based Budget Tool

As part of her first budget presentation, Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo launched the state's first web-based budget tool.

Raimondo submitted her $8.6 million budget request to lawmakers on March 12 in Providence.

"I am hopeful this online tool will help engage them in the process," said Raimondo, a former general treasurer elected governor last fall.

The tool, available at http://openbudget.ri.gov/, enables the state to publish budget and spending data dating back to 2008.

Rhode Islanders can search the budget and spending information through charts and data. Personnel will update this web portal throughout the budget process. Raimondo said it will be accessible from mobile devices.
