E. J. De La Rosa & Co. recently hired Steven Cosner as a vice president in its sales and trading unit in Los Angeles.
Cosner joined the investment bank in April after working as a managing director in institutional municipal sales for Piper Jaffray & Co. in its San Francisco office.
Joining De La Rosa was "a great opportunity that I couldn't pass up," Cosner said. It was also a chance to work with founder Edward J. De La Rosa for the second time. The two met in the early 1980's at First Interstate Bank, now Wells Fargo Bank, he said.
Ben Stern, director of sales and trading, said Cosner's experience in institutional sales and the strong account relationships he developed there will help De La Rosa build its secondary market presence and distribute its $1.3 billion variable- and auction-rate portfolio of taxable and tax-exempt products.
"E.J. De La Rosa has basically been concentrated in California and I'm hoping to strengthen their distribution," said Cosner, who reports to Stern.
Cosner earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and completed coursework towards a master's in business administration at the University of Oklahoma and the University of California at Los Angeles.
The firm continues to invest in its sales and trading area with seasoned hires, including a full-time trader, Stern said.
