BRADENTON, Fla. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP has added Shaney Lokken to its public finance team as part of the firm’s effort to expand in the Southeast.
Lokken will join Matt Nichols as the second attorney this year to work from the Atlanta office.
She will focus on government, higher education, health care, and other sectors.
“The addition of Shaney to Parker Poe’s Public Finance team helps us continue our momentum in serving the finance needs of our clients in Georgia,” said Scott Leo, leader of the firm’s Public Finance group. “We are thrilled that she has joined our team and look forward to building our practice in the Southeast, working with clients within our regional footprint and across the U.S.”
Lokken has worked for two Atlanta banks, most recently as a senior vice president at SunTrust Bank focused on compliance efforts for swaps.
Earlier in her career, she was assistant vice president and assistant general counsel for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, where she provided guidance to executive management and the board of directors regarding regulations and disclosure requirements. She also represented the bank in secured lending and capital markets transactions.
In private practice working on public finance issues, Lokken’s experience included representing a university system in a public-private partnership, a hospital authority issuing revenue anticipation certificates, and a large nonprofit arts organization issuing variable-rate revenue bonds.
Lokken received a bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan and a law degree at the University of Southern California.
She has been as president and treasurer of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and she is a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She has also volunteered with the Atlanta Women’s Foundation and Toastmasters International.
