The Municipal Forum of New York has launched a “Giving Tuesday” campaign, urging its members to individually support the Urban Leadership Fellows internship and scholarship programs.

The Forum has sponsored the ULF program since 1992. It provides paid summer internships in municipal finance to deserving high school graduates in New York City and college scholarships.
Since its inception, more than 800 students have participated in the ULF program, with many going on to careers in municipal finance.
The students come from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. In recent years, about two-thirds of the program’s graduates lived in low-income communities across the city.
Besides running the internship program for 30 interns this year with support from sponsoring member organizations, the Forum also provided scholarship awards to 53 past ULF interns.
The Forum relies on contributions from its member organizations and individuals.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the Forum’s annual dinner this year and in 2020, which was its main fundraising event. So, it says, the “Giving Tuesday” campaign this year is especially important to keep the programs going.
