Muni Bond Indexes Strengthen Again

The weekly average yield to maturity of The Bond Buyer Municipal Bond Index, which is based on 40 long-term bond prices, was four basis points lower to 4.38% for the week ended Oct. 1 from 4.42% in the previous week

The Bond Buyer's 20-Bond GO Index of 20-year general obligation yields decreased four basis points to 3.67% from 3.71% in the previous week. It is at its lowest level since April 30, when it stood at 3.62%.

The 11-Bond GO Index of higher-grade 20-year GO yields dropped four basis points to 3.19% from 3.23% in the prior week. It is at its lowest level since Jan. 19, when it stood at 3.14%.

The Bond Buyer's Revenue Bond Index fell four basis points to 4.06% from 4.10% from the week ended Sept. 24. It is at its lowest level in eight weeks, when it stood also stood at 4.06%.

The yield on the U.S. Treasury's 10-year note was nine basis points lower to 2.04% from 2.13%, while the yield on the Treasury's 30-year bond decreased six basis points to 2.85% from 2.91% in the previous week.
