Title: Of Counsel
Firm: Ballard Spahr LLP
Age: 39
Michael Charlebois, an attorney in Ballard Spahr's national finance department, focuses his work on bond financings for nonprofit organizations, such as charter and private schools, cultural centers, higher education institutions, and hospitals; project financings; student and workforce housing projects; and P3 infrastructure financings.
"His notable professional accomplishments and unwavering dedication to serving his clients are the hallmarks of this emerging leader who embodies the highest standards of the legal profession," said Emilie Ninan, co-chair of Ballard Spahr's finance department.
Charlebois began his legal career in public finance in 2015 at Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth in San Francisco. He joined Ballard Spahr in 2022 and has expanded his practice nationally.
"When I joined Stradling right out of law school, I didn't know what public finance was and I didn't know what I was getting into, but I quickly discovered that I love what I do. I love seeing the results of what I am working on, like when a bridge or a school gets built. It's very rewarding," said Charlebois.
In addition to his thriving public finance practice, Charlebois is committed to helping others through Ballard Spahr's pro bono initiative. In 2022, Charlebois was part of the Ballard Spahr pro bono legal team that advised nonpartisan advocacy organizations Brennan Center for Justice and All Voting Is Local to create state-level guides that highlight safeguards to ensure that poll workers cannot disrupt the election process.
