Wasmer Schroeder names muni veteran Justin Land as its new president

Justin Land has been chosen to be the next president of Wasmer Schroeder effective June 1, the firm announced on Friday. Land succeeds Michael Schroeder, who has served as president of the firm since 2005.

Wasmer Schroeder is a Naples, Florida-based fixed-income manager specializing in taxable and tax-exempt municipal strategies and municipal separately managed accounts.

Land, who is a chartered financial analyst, has been with the firm since 1997. He has served for the past two years as the firm's chief municipal strategist. Before that he was a portfolio manager and director of tax-exempt management. He will continue to lead the firm's municipal credit research team.

Land has held leadership roles in a number of industry organizations, including past President of the CFA Society of Naples.

“Justin's promotion today is part of our long-range planning and will likely come as no surprise to those that follow Wasmer Schroeder closely,” said CEO Martin Wasmer. “Justin will remain focused on our investment management processes with a particular emphasis on credit research. We are excited about the future as we continue to focus on the best ways to serve investors and their advisors.”

Schroeder will continue in his role as chief risk officer and will focus on the macro issues facing investment management firms and their clients.

"Justin has been with us almost since the beginning of the firm, he is uniquely qualified to help lead us into the future and is deserving of this leadership role,” Schroeder said. “As I transition to the next stage of my career, I feel fortunate that we've built such a strong management team.”
