In five years at S&P Global Ratings Joanie has emerged as a leader of the housing group, taking on increasing responsibilities, moving from analyst to team leader and training junior analysts.
S&P values her background in municipal accounting, and allowed her to lead a new criteria project, a testament to the confidence leadership has in her abilities and judgment.
“Joanie is a highly skilled public finance analyst, specializing in a broad range of affordable housing finance credits,” said Marian Zucker, sector lead for U.S. Public Finance Housing at S&P. “As a team leader within the U.S. Public Finance department, she serves as an exemplary role model, mentor and thought leader. Her energetic personality, diligence, and passion for the sector serve the department and the industry well.”
Joanie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a master’s degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. She has a Certified Public Accountant license.
Earlier in her career she was senior finance manager and controller for Eagle County, Colorado.
Joanie said she likes public finance because “you get to do the financial side while still having a lot of interaction with clients.” She also enjoys helping create low-income housing, which she believes is important.
During her stay at S&P, she’s been impressed that it puts its employees’ interests first.
In her free time, Joanie volunteers for Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley and pursues mountain biking, hiking, skiing and snowboarding.
