Hilltop Securities hires William Evans to head underwriting

William Evans, former senior vice president at Loop Capital, has moved to Hilltop Securities as managing director and head of underwriting.

Evans will lead Hilltop’s negotiated and competitive underwriting efforts, working with the firm’s public finance bankers and fixed income capital markets sales and trading desk, said David Medanich, head of public finance for Hilltop.

“It’s no secret that price discovery has been a challenge during the pandemic,” Medanich said. “Bill’s experience pricing deals and his long-held relationships with institutional investors play an integral part in helping our clients secure advantageous borrowing costs to meet their funding needs.”

Evans has nearly two decades of experience in underwriting and institutional sales.

At Loop, he was responsible for pricing and marketing negotiated deals and managing the firm’s competitive underwriting business. Previously, he was an underwriter with Morgan Stanley & Co. and UBS Securities.

“Public entities are under immense financial pressure, and it’s important they maintain access to the capital markets,” said Evans. “Hilltop Securities is perfectly positioned to help issuers secure the financing they need in this challenging economic environment. Our national footprint, regional approach, and dedicated capital enables us to distribute bonds and deliver quality pricing execution for issuers in a wide range of sectors.”

Evans earned an executive MBA from Fordham University and a bachelor’s in business administration from Northeastern University.
