GOP's Foley Earns Rematch with Malloy for Connecticut Governor

Connecticut will have a rematch in its general election for governor.

Businessman Tom Foley of Greenwich won the Republican primary Aug. 12, defeating state Sen. John McKinney of Fairfield, 56% to 44%, according to results posted by the secretary of state's office.

He will face incumbent Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy in November. Malloy, a former Stamford mayor, is seeking his second term.

He won his first term in 2010 edging out Foley by only 6,404 votes.

Foley, 62, served as U.S. ambassador to Ireland from 2006 to 2009.

McKinney, 50, is the Senate minority leader.
