Connor Crews has rejoined the McGuireWoods public finance team in Raleigh after teaching for more than three years at the University of North Carolina's School of Government.
Crews will work on all aspects of public finance transactions, including governmental financings and financings for non-profit organizations.
During his tenure at UNC, he taught local and state officials, government contractors and public- and private-sector lawyers on local government finance and public procurement.
Crews is the editor of the recently published "Introduction to Local Government Finance, Fifth Edition," the textbook for the UNC's introductory course on local government finance.
"We're excited to welcome Connor back to the firm," said Kay McNab, chair of McGuireWoods' public finance department. "His experience and knowledge add to our department's wide-ranging capabilities and directly benefit our clients."
Crews is a bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, bank counsel and borrower's counsel on a wide range of tax-exempt and tax-advantaged transactions. He has experience in financing capital improvement projects for local governments, affordable housing developers, charter schools, public and private colleges and universities and other nonprofit organizations.
"I am thrilled to rejoin McGuireWoods' Raleigh office and to be part of an innovative and nationally respected public finance practice," Crews said. "I look forward to serving the firm's clients in North Carolina and across the country," Crews said.
Connor graduated from the University of Virginia's School of Law. Prior to joining McGuireWoods, he practiced law in Washington D.C. where he represented businesses and entrepreneurs in corporate transactional matters. He also provided estate planning advice to low-income seniors on a pro bono basis.
"Connor is an authority on local government finance, particularly in North Carolina, and he enhances our ability to assist clients across a range of public finance matters," said Mary Nash Rusher, managing partner of the firm's Raleigh office.
