Title: Vice President for Federal Legislative and Regulatory Policy
Firm: Bond Dealers of America
Age: 33
As vice president for federal legislative and regulatory policy at Bond Dealers of America, Brett Bolton is a full-time federal advocate for the municipal bond market.
He was instrumental in the formation of the Municipal Bonds for America Coalition and leads that initiative, which combines sell side, buy side, legal, insurance and other parties trying to advance the interests of the muni market through federal infrastructure legislation.
Brett moved to Washington in 2012 "on a whim" to intern for a member of Congress, and soon started lobbying for the state of Florida, where he learned about municipal finance. He then took his talents to the National League of Cities
“It’s gotten more and more directly focused on munis,” Brett said of his career. He added, he feels privileged to be able to work closely with BDA membership.
“It worked out well," he said.
Bolton holds a bachelor's degree from Samford University and a master's degree from the Florida State University’s Askew School of Public Administration and Policy.
