Bond Buyer Yield Indexes Strengthen

The weekly average yield to maturity of The Bond Buyer Municipal Bond Index, which is based on 40 long-term bond prices, fell three basis points to 4.34% in the week ended Oct. 22 from 4.37% in the prior week.

The Bond Buyer's 20-Bond GO Index of 20-year general obligation yields fell one basis point to 3.67% from 3.68% in the previous week. It is at its lowest level since Oct. 1, when it stood at 3.67%.

The 11-Bond GO Index of higher-grade 20-year GO yields declined one basis point to 3.18% from 3.19% in the prior week. It is at its lowest level since Jan. 15, when it stood at 3.14%.

The Bond Buyer's Revenue Bond Index fell two basis points to 4.05% from 4.07% in the previous week. It stands at its lowest level ever, since calculations began on Sept. 20, 1979.

The yield on the U.S. Treasury's 10-year note was up one basis point to 2.04% from 2.03%, while the yield on the Treasury's 30-year bond was flat at 2.87% from the previous week.
