Bond Buyer Indexes Strengthen

The weekly average yield to maturity of The Bond Buyer Municipal Bond Index, which is based on 40 long-term bond prices, fell four basis points to 3.86% from 3.90% in the previous week.

The Bond Buyer's 20-Bond GO Index of 20-year general obligation decreased eight basis points to 3.18% from 3.26% from the prior week. It is at its lowest level since May 13, 1965 when it stood at 3.14%.

The 11-Bond GO Index of higher-grade 20-year GO yields was lower by eight basis points to 2.70% from 2.78% from the previous week. It is at its lowest level since Jan. 23, 1958 when it was at 2.70%.

The Bond Buyer's Revenue Bond Index sank 10 basis points to 3.38% from 3.48% from last week, setting a new low since the data began being counted in Sept. 20, 1979.

The yield on the U.S. Treasury's 10-year note was 13 basis points lower to 1.68% from 1.81%, while the yield on the Treasury's 30-year decreased 11 basis points to 2.48% from 2.59% last week.
