WASHINGTON – Justin Underwood will join Bond Dealers of America on Nov. 16 as federal policy advisor.

He will move to BDA from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority where he has been a regulatory trading analyst since March 2014.

Underwood will analyze federal regulatory and legislative policy as well as staff BDA's newly formed fixed income technology and operations committee, the group said in a release.

"The hiring of Justin to compliment the work Jessica [Giroux] and John [Vahey] are doing to represent our membership at the BDA simply means the BDA is better resourced and more equipped to provide the exceptional representation that we have worked hard to deliver since being founded in 2008," said BDA chief executive officer Mike Nicholas.

Before joining FINRA, Underwood was a financial program manager at USG for a year and five months. Prior to that, he was an associate at Morgan Stanley in London for a year and four months. He joined the brokerage firm from the U.S. State Department, where he was a budget analyst from January 2009 through August 2011.

Underwood obtained a master of business administration from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School in 2011 and a bachelor of fine arts from Emporia State University in Kansas in 2004.
