April ISM-NY current business index slips to 55.8

“New York City purchasing managers demonstrated a small but directional shift in perspective in April,” as the current business conditions index decreased to 55.8 in April from 56.5 in March, the Institute for Supply Management-New York’s Report on Business index, released Tuesday, indicated.

A reading above 50.0 indicates expansion. The employment index is published on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The report’s six-month outlook index fell to 73.2 in April from 75.6 in March. The NY-BCI, a cumulative diffusion index, gained to 738.0 from 735.1.

The prices paid composite index rose to 54.7 from 48.1, the quantity of purchases composite index fell to 48.4 from 57.4, employment slipped to 45.1 from 47.7, the current month’s revenues index declined to 55.0 from 65.4, and the expected level of revenues slumped to 65.5 from 80.0.
