While working on his master's degree, Abhishek Lodha started his first internship in munis where he noticed the inadequacy of data in the market.
This question of how to make information more accessible and research more efficient led him on a journey of working on data science, technology and software development to bring that to the hands of credit analysts in munis.
"It's almost like a mission now for me to build better efficiency and better tools for analysts everywhere," the 33-year-old said.
"During his three years at Assured, Abhishek has bridged the gap between traditional municipal research and more cutting-edge technology and products, allowing Assured to make its underwriting process more efficient. He has also focused on the firm's environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies and has helped it find tools that allow it to incorporate climate risk into credit analysis," said Jason Falzon, managing director at Assured, who nominated Abhishek.
"Abhishek's knowledge of fintech solutions and credit analytics provides the group a fresh perspective in creating new business efficiencies and directing additional investment into data analytics," Falzon added.
He is currently working to build out risk and data analytics in the ESG and credit space.
"There's a lot of evolution that's happening and people in munis are figuring out better ways to manage their books and analyze it," Abhishek said.

Prior to his role at Assured, he worked at the New York advisory firm NewOak Capital doing credit research and developing analytical platforms and the Silicon Valley startup Neighborly where he was the product lead for their ESG asset management business.
