Top muni bond counsel of Q1 2020

Municipal bond counsels accumulated $87.02 billion, up from the $75.14 billion in the first three months of 2019. The top spot remained the same but the rest of the top 10 saw a plethora of changes.

Orrick on top again

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP claimed the top spot for bond counsel once again. Orrick achieved $12.47 billion in 91 transactions and 14.3% market share, compared to $8.68 billion and 11.6% market share from the same time the year before.

Squire Patton Boggs moves up three spots

Squire Patton Boggs jumped up into the two spot, as it amassed $5.85 billion, up from the $2.81 billion it did in the first quarter of 2019.

McCall Parkhurst & Horton LLP improves four places

McCall Parkhurst & Horton LLP moved way up as it totaled $5.68 billion in 64 deals, versus $1.99 billion in 43 transactions.

Norton Rose Fulbright remains in fourth

Norton Rose Fulbright's place in the rankings stayed unchanged even though the firm's par amount rose. The firm accounted for $4.65 billion, up from $3.23 billion.

Kutak Rock LLP drops down

Kutak Rock LLP slipped two places from where it was a year ago, as it garnered a par amount of $3.63 billion, up from $3.61 billion in 2019.

Best of the rest

The rest of the top 10 is as follows: Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP with $2.87 billion; Gilmore & Bell PC with $2.60 billion; Nixon Peabody LLP with $2.45 billion; Ballard Spahr LLP with $2.41 billion; and, Chapman and Cutler LLP with $1.79 billion.
