Financial advisor firms shuffle in 1H rankings

The top municipal financial advisors saw $181.69 billion of business in 4,465 transactions in the first six months of 2021, up from the $163.99 billion in 3,846 deals the same period last year.

KNN Public Finance, RBC Capital Markets and Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors jumped up into the top 10.

PFM still on top despite lower par amount and market share

Public Financial Management Advisors accounted for $30 billion in 573 transactions and a 16.5% market share in the first half of 2021 compared to $33.45 billon in 488 deals and a market share of 20.4% in the same time period last year.

PRAG picking up pace of business

Public Resources Advisory Group saw increases in par amount, number of deals and a slight uptick in market share. The firm worked on $21.07 billion or 11.6% share of the market in 108 transactions in the first half, up from the $18.79 billion and 11.5% market share accross 61 transactions in the first six months of last year.

Hilltop edging closer to the top 2

Hilltop Securities closed the gap between its third place finish and the second place firm. Hilltop finished the first half with $15.76 billion and 8.7% share of the market, compared to $11.91 billion and 7.3% market share in 2020.

Frasca & Associates jumped up into the top four after being in 10th place at this time last year. The firm wrapped up the most recent half with $7.76 billion or 4.3% market share.

Piper Sandler used a big first half to moved up from 7th to 5th. The firm totaled $6.49 billion in 135 transactons compared to $3.43 billion in 105 deals during the same time last year.

Rounding out the top 10 are: Acacia Financial Group Inc. with $5.13 billion, Swap Financial Group LLC. with $4.89 billion, KNN Public Finance with $4.44 billion, RBC Capital Markets with $3.93 billion and Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors with $3.58 billion.
